چکیده

The Segway Human Transport (HT) is a one person dynamically selfbalancing transportation vehicle. The Segway Robot Mobility Platform (RMP) is a modification of the HT capable of being commanded by a computer for autonomous operation. With these platforms, we propose a new domain for human-robot coordination through a competitive game: Segway Soccer. The players include robots (RMPs) and humans (riding HTs). The rules of the game are a combination of soccer and Ultimate Frisbee rules. In this paper, we provide three contributions. First, we describe our proposed Segway Soccer domain. Second, we examine the capabilities and limitations of the Segway and the mechanical systems necessary to create a robot Segway Soccer Player. Third, we provide a detailed analysis of several ball manipulation/kicking systems and the implementation results of the CM-RMP pneumatic ball manipulation system.

Development of a Soccer-Playing Dynamically-Balanced Mobile Robot

In this paper, we make two contributions. First, we present a new domain, called Segway Soccer, for investigating the coordination of dynamically formed, mixed human-robot teams within the realm of a team task that requires real-time decision making and response. Segway Soccer is a game of soccer between two teams consisting of Segway riding humans and Segway RMP-based robots. We believe Segway...

Co-Operative Strategy for an Interactive Robot Soccer System by Reinforcement Learning Method

This paper presents a cooperation strategy between a human operator and autonomous robots for an interactive robot soccer game. The interactive robot soccer game has been developed to allow humans to join into the game dynamically and reinforce entertainment characteristics. In order to make these games more interesting, a cooperation strategy between humans and autonomous robots on a team is v...

From Passive Dynamic Walking to Passive Turning of Biped walker

Dynamically stable biped robots mimicking human locomotion have received significant attention over the last few decades. Formerly, the existence of stable periodic gaits for straight walking of passive biped walkers was well known and investigated as the notion of passive dynamic walking. This study is aimed to elaborate this notion in the case of three dimensional (3D) walking and extend it f...

Skill Acquisition and Use for a Dynamically-Balancing Soccer Robot

Dynamically-balancing robots have recently been made available by Segway LLC, in the form of the Segway RMP (Robot Mobility Platform). We have addressed the challenge of using these RMP robots to play soccer, building up upon our extensive previous work in this multi-robot research domain. In this paper, we make three contributions. First, we present a new domain, called Segway Soccer, for inve...

Grid-Based Occupancy Mapping and Automatic Gaze Control for Soccer Playing Humanoid Robots

With advances in walking abilities of autonomous soccer playing humanoid robots, the world modeling and state estimation problem moves into focus, as only sufficiently accurate and robust modeling allows to leverage improved locomotion capabilities. A novel approach for dense grid-based obstacle mapping in dynamic environments with an additional application for automatic gaze control is present...
